100 Days, 100 Thoughts

My Goal to Write 100 Raw, Thought-Provoking Mini Essays Within 100 Days

Starting today (April 1st, 2025), I am embarking on a 100-day challenge to write 100 mini essays by the end of August.

(I got this idea by randomly stumbling upon Spencer Chang’s version)

This challenge isn’t just about consistency but also a protocol for self-improvement: a way to sharpen my writing, refine my ideas, and build discipline while also having fun finding creative ways to express my thoughts.

The goal is simple: one mini essay per day (or at least every other day).

(If you don’t know what a mini essay is, check out my previous installment here.)

Each piece will be a reflection, an analysis, or an exploration of a thought-provoking topic, ranging from philosophy, self-improvement, and health to technology, psychology, and personal experiences. By the end of this journey, I aim to have a body of work that represents my evolving thoughts and writing style.

But this challenge means more than just writing. It’s also about keeping my word. I’ve said countless times that I was going to get consistent with content, only to disappear for months.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said, “This is it. I’m locking in. Consistent uploads. Making my dreams a reality.” — only to disappear for months the moment that initial motivation wears off. I post the video… then boom, another 2–3 month hiatus.

But this time, there’s no excuses — I’m holding myself accountable. If I don’t complete 100 essays by the end of August, then it’s undeniable proof that I was nothing but talk.

To ensure I stay on track, I’ll be following a system:

  • Daily Writing Time — Dedicating a set time each day to write.

  • Idea Bank — Keeping a list of topics to avoid writer’s block.

  • Accountability — Documenting/sharing my progress publicly to stay motivated and acquire feedback.

  • Iterative Improvement — Review past works to refine my style

This is something you can join me in. If you’re reading this, I encourage you to start your own challenge alongside me. Follow my other socials, and DM me if you’re in — I’d love to hear about your progress. With that said, this challenge is officially started.

P.S. I started writing this blog post at 11 PM on April 1st, but I didn’t upload it until April 3rd because I wanted to upload a couple of other letters before this one.

P.P.S. And yes, I know that 100 days from April 1st would land around July 10th — not August. But I’m giving myself some leeway since I’m still in school, and finals and AP exams are coming up. I’ll need time to prioritize my coursework. That doesn’t mean I’ll be neglecting this challenge — I’m fully committed to seeing it through. (And no, I’m not just saying this because I feel motivated right now. I literally had to force myself to start writing and commit to this challenge.)

P.P.P.S. And yes, I am including my other blog post The Goldilocks Zone for Work as part of this challenge. Okay… nuf said. I’ve been yapping too much.

This is the 3rd installment in my experiment of publishing a mini essay every day towards achieving 100 public pieces. Check out the full list here, and the previous letter here.
